I wrote this song as a reaction to sudden passing of Jitka Šuranská, fiddle player and singer, a key figure at Folk Holidays festival in Namest nad Oslavou, Czech Republic. She passed away of cancer at the age of 41 in autumn of 2019. Didn't know her personally but it still came as a shock
lyrics
I thought I was safe
Safe here with you
Instead I find myself
Going nowhere
Not sure if I make it
To the shore
The waters are hungry
Waiting to swallow me
I’m not giving up
Just yet
Calm before the storm
Brings on the hope
Hold it close
Before it fades
The land can’t be reached
My fate is clear
The hands are holding me
Holding tight
I’m slowly giving up the fight
